Expression of tenascin in mouse tooth

Species: mouse
Tooth: lower molar
Method: immunochemistry, antibody: polyclonal

Bud stage
Expression: basement membrane, dental mesenchyme
No expression: oral epithelium, dental epithelium

Cap stage
Expression: basement membrane, dental papilla, dental sac
No expression: oral epithelium, outer enamel epithelium, inner enamel epithelium, enamel knot, stellate reticulum

Bell stage
Expression: oral epithelium, basement membrane, dental papilla
No expression: outer enamel epithelium, inner enamel epithelium, stratum intermedia, stellate reticulum, dental sac

Secretory stage
Expression: dental papilla, odontoblasts
No expression: outer enamel epithelium, stratum intermedia, stellate reticulum, ameloblasts, enamel, dental sac, predentin, dentin

Staining in the intercellular spaces of the dental papilla..

No dental abnormalities noted in transgenic mice deficient in tenascin (Saga et al., 1992).
