Cap stage
Expression: outer enamel epithelium, inner enamel epithelium, enamel knot, stellate reticulum

Bell stage
Expression: outer enamel epithelium, inner enamel epithelium, stratum intermedia, stellate reticulum, dental papilla
No expression: oral epithelium, dental sac

Late bell
(differentiation) stage

In Msx1/Msx2 double knockout mice, tooth development is arrested either during the initiation stage or early bud stages.
