FGF8 (in beads) induced Pax9 expression in dental mesenchyme in tissue culture (Neubüser et al 1997). See expression of Pax9.

Bud stage
Expression: oral epithelium

At bud stage transcripts in the distal part of the tooth and in the oral epithelium..
After bud stage no expression detected in the developing tooth..

Cap stage
No expression: oral epithelium, outer enamel epithelium, inner enamel epithelium, enamel knot, stellate reticulum, dental papilla, dental sac

Bell stage
No expression: oral epithelium, outer enamel epithelium, inner enamel epithelium, stratum intermedia, stellate reticulum, dental papilla, dental sac

Late bell (differentiation) stage
No expression: outer enamel epithelium, stratum intermedia, stellate reticulum, preameloblasts, dental papilla, dental sac, preodontoblasts
