Edar codes a receptor for ectodysplasin, a TNF family ligand (product of Tabby and EDA genes in mouse and man).
Dominant and recessive mutations in Edar cause anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia in mouse and man.
EDAR belongs to tumor necrosis factor receptor family.
Downless and Sleek mice have mutations in Edar.
Mutations in human EDAR cause autosomal anhidrotic ectodermal dysplasia (EDA).
Activin (in beads) induced Edar expression in epithelium. (Laurikkala et al 2001) See expression of activin beta A.
