DSPP gene codes for dentin sialoprotein and dentin phosphoprotein.
DSPP is highly specific for the odontoblast lineage.
Mutations in DSPP cause dentin dysplasia type II or dentinogenesis imperfecta type II.
Dentin defects in DSPP -/- mice resemble dentinogenesis imperfecta type III.
